2017 is a big year for the iPhone. It will be the device’s 10th birthday, which means it’s likely Apple is going to really shake things up. Let’s take a look.
Not one, not two, but three new iPhones
Apple will reportedly release three new iPhones this September. This would match up with 2016 releases, when they debuted the iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple is also rumored have a high-end phone in research and development right now, code named Ferrari. Fancy.
A shiny new OLED screen
As you might guess, this is our favorite rumor to speculate around. Multiple sources suggest that at least one of the new models will move to an OLED screen, which is a departure from the current LCD screen. Theoretically, this would give the new devices a brighter-looking display. Japanese electronics company Sharp, one of Apple’s suppliers, recently confirmed the iPhone maker would be switching to OLED displays, according to a report in Nikkei.
Another one of our favorites. Sources suggest that an iPhone with a curved screen could finally make its debut this year. A curved screen would extend to the edges of the phone and replace all buttons and cameras, incorporating them into the screen itself.
(iPhones) are red, violets are blue
Reports from the Japanese blog that first predicted the removal of the headphone jack suggest that the 2017 iPhones may be available in a new, red casing. The iPhone 7 saw five colors — gold, rose gold, silver, black and jet black. A red color would be the first expansion beyond metallic colors since the iPhone 5C debuted in green, pink, yellow, blue and white.
The agony of deplete is real. Rumors suggest that the upcoming iPhones may have fast-charging, a feature that several high-end Android devices already tout.

Some reports suggest that Apple is also working on wireless charging. Unlike Samsung and Nexus phones that use charging slabs for wireless charging, Apple is said to be working on air charging (think AirDrop, but for your battery), which would allow a device to charge if it is near enough to a base charging unit. Magic.
An all-glass iPhone?
Last May, Nikkei reported that Apple was moving towards the adoption of a glass body for at least one of the new 2017 models. If the glass design is released, wireless charging is more likely to come with it. There There are also other rumors that suggest a combined glass and metal design could be coming, similar to the iPhone 4. A little nostalgia.
