If Star Wars characters were smartphones

There’s not an obvious correlation between smartphones and Star Wars characters, but in honor of May the Fourth, we made one.

We spend a lot of time digging into all sorts of smartphones and ranking them based on durability, speed, memory, and so on, so we consulted our several in-house Star Wars gurus to create this matching of who’s who between phones and characters. Much to learn, you have.

Google Pixel – ‘Finn’ the Stormtrooper

In The Force Awakens, Finn, previously known as Stormtrooper FN-2187, goes through a change of heart and where he discovers he isn’t just a machine and starts to see things humanistically. Through a set of curious circumstances, he escapes the empire and goes to the light, determined to be better. Google’s mission is lead by the mantra “Don’t be evil,” recognizing that the human element and goodness is far more important than anything else. The white suiting on both the Stormtrooper and the Pixel doesn’t hurt, either.

ONE PLUS – Han Solo

The One Plus device was the most economical option at the beginning of the smartphone revolution. It stood apart in a world of (seemingly) overpriced phones. The One Plus is a rebel of a phone and so are those that carry it, just like Han. One Plus is still a somewhat niche company, giving off a non-conformist appeal.  In a world of Galaxies and iPhones, the OnePlus has roguish charm to help it stand out. Even the company reminds us of Han with it’s wacky social media campaigns and customer referral programs. Plans never work out like they are meant to but somehow Han manages to keep things together only to fall into another mess, usually of his own making……. just like One Plus.

Droid Turbo 2 – Chewbacca

Star Wars had its fair share of tough characters, but only one of them would rip off your arms if they started to lose at a Dejarik.  Chewbacca is known for his strength and endurance, just like the Droid Turbo 2.  With a 21 megapixel camera, a 3760 mAh battery and shatterproof screen this is a built to withstand the hardest of tumbles, it’s quite the ‘beast.’  The Droid Turbo 2 is not the smallest or prettiest of phones, but neither was Chewbacca.

BlackBerry – Yoda

Just like Yoda, the BlackBerry can look old to younger eyes. Before Google existed and while Apple was still figuring things out, BlackBerry came up with the idea of seeing an email on your pager.  One thing led to another and poof, the smartphone was born. Yoda has been around for a long time and so has BlackBerry.  With hundreds of years training Jedi, Yoda’s influence can be felt throughout the force.  So, too, can the BlackBerry’s influence be felt throughout the smartphone world. You may see the  BlackBerry Passport as an irrelevant device, but behold!  BlackBerrys are the phones that created the smartphone revolution and brought email on a phone to the world.  BlackBerry may not be doing as much now, kind of like Yoda sitting in a swamp waiting for something to happen, but their genius can still be seen today in modern phones.

iPhone – Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker was a farm boy who rose from humble beginnings to become one of the greatest Jedi the galaxy has ever known. Along with his friends Princess Leia and Han Solo, Luke battled and battled to the top. Similarly, Apple its start tinkering with computer parts in a residential garage with little to no resources. Generations later, Luke is a revered leader, known widely across the Galaxy, just like Apple and the much-adored iPhone.

Whichever galaxy (city) you live in, rest assured that iCracked will be there to bring your phone out of darkness any time, any place.
